đ Halloween on Erebus
Halloween is sort of a big deal on Erebus. The bars are packed, the clubs run themed nights all week, and its not uncommon to see people parading through the streets in flashy and elaborate costumes. It's a time for Autumnal comforts, such as Pumpkin Carving and fresh apple cider from Silva. Children especially enjoy Halloween Night as they go door to door in search of sweet treats.
All month long, citizens look forward to the annual Ghoulish Gala at Moonglass Hall, a gorgeous masquerade event. The Gala is streamed live for those who do not wish to attend, and for social media lovers to obsess over the new fashionable and elegant looks presented each year. It is not uncommon for celebrities to attend the gala after all, though anyone is welcome to enter as long as they follow the dress code.Â
Customs from other systems can also be found within Erebus, brought by travelers from across the universe. Carried over from Umbra, some will leave a single candle in their window overnight; if itâs still lit by dawn, a spirit watched over the home. In Eau, families drop candlelit shells into the water at dusk so the dead can find their way ashore for one night-- on Erebus, these tokens can sometimes be found floating in ponds and canals.Â
The Ghoulish Gala is a Halloween Masquerade ball held at Moonglass Hall, a gorgeous event center on the very edge of the Outer Ring. It's name comes from the enormous panes of glass that form the domed ceiling of the ballroom and reflective floors, designed to capture and amplify the light of the nearest moon. At midnight, when the moon hits its peak, the entire space seems to shimmer like silver. There are balconies on all sides of the building, those facing the city offering a gorgeous view of everything below, and those in the back appearing to be at the edge of the world.Â
Reserved for high-society functions and diplomatic receptions, Moonglass Hall has become a symbol of utmost excellence and elegance on Erebus.Â
On Halloween night, Moonglass Hall sheds its pristine elegance for darker themes, opening its doors for the Ghoulish Gala. The glass dome above the ballroom is veiled in mist, projections of burning candles hover in the air, and every surface is embellished with silver vines and live moonflowers.Â
Guests of the Gala may bring a partner to dance with, or they may arrive alone to dance with fate. Those who come unaccompanied will have the option to be assigned a partner. When the clock strikes midnight, the music will slow for a Waltz, a moment where the entire ballroom glows faintly with the silver light of the moon. Attendees of the past have claimed to see specters dancing among them, mirroring their movements from another world.Â
The Gala ends with the sunrise, when the moonflowers curl in upon themselves and the mist fades away.Â
(While there is a written description for Moonglass Hall, we highly encourage you to take artistic liberty with your depictions of it! Have fun!)

Pumpkin carving is a long standing tradition, dating all the way back to ancient earth. Thousands of the gourds in all shapes and sizes are imported to Erebus from Silva every year so that citizens may partake in carving them to their hearts content. It is most common for ghost type PokĂŠmon to be depicted, but many others like to have fun with other designs as well.Â
On the night of Halloween, all across the galaxy, carved pumpkins will be adorned with candlelight and placed by the front door. Some say that the faces ward away evil spirits, but for most, it is simply a creative way to usher in the Halloween Spirit.
Prompt: Write, draw, or RP your character carving a pumpkin, or even a drawing of the pumpkin that they carved!
Club Sanctum is throwing a rager party, usually the talk of the late night scene in Erebus. Lights down, neon flashing, and the DJ is only picking the filthiest music for the evening. The dress code is simple, wear as much-- or as little-- as you want, the only rule is that it has to be a costume. There are two floors in the building, the first is a quiet lounge, the second is a bar and dance floor with an opening into an outdoor area that overlooks the street.
The club has gone all out with decor this time, webs decorating the walls and fog flooding the dance floor. A few props around that look way too real; there's even a weird-ass Noctowl decoration perched in the corner on the second floor, still, yet somehow mischievous as it watches over the crowd. Some party-goers swear up and down that it actually moves when the lights flicker, but it's probably just an animatronic, right?
The drinks are pouring with specialty cocktails, some as red as blood and others glittering and dark like the night sky. The dance floor is packed, and the music shakes the walls. Whether you came to dance, drink, or partake in illicit substances, you're sure to have one hell of a night.Â
Prompt: Write, draw, or RP your characterâs experience at Club Sanctum! Remember that it is a night club, so the costume should fit that vibe. You may also see an optional continuation of the prompt below for potential angst đ
It hits fast. One moment youâre on the dance floor, glitter in your hair and a drink in your hand, the next everything tilts sideways. The lights smear into streaks of color, the bass sounds like itâs crawling under your skin, and the walls are breathing in rhythm with your heartbeat.Â
You think someone spiked the drinks-- until you see the Noctowl. That âdecorationâ in the corner? Yeah, no. Itâs alive.
Your mind slips sideways, and suddenly the club doesnât feel like the club anymore. The walls pulse, the ceiling stretches, the floor opens like a throat. Everyone around you is laughing too loud, smiling too wide. Hands grab your arms, faces warp in flashes of strobe light, and the beat keeps pounding in your skull.Â
The Noctowlâs still there, wings half-open, psychic energy curling off it like smoke. An escaped illegal import from Magus, they say. A dream-eater, a mind-breaker. You canât tell if itâs showing you your worst fears or feeding on them.Â
It looks at you, tilts its head, and blinks golden eyes.
Will you make the best of it and have the best trip of your life? Or will you allow the horrors to consume you?
Huge thank you to Omen for helping with this idea! âĽď¸
