Still no official explanation has been released regarding the blackout or the expanding gravitational anomalies. Government officials continue to urge calm, repeating advisories on public channels for civilians with instructions to avoid all known distortion sites. Despite the lack of new public information, the effects remain impossible to ignore... Erebus is changing....
And yet, life persists.
Spring has taken hold across the city, washing over the greys with vivid greens and the soft colors of a warming season. Rain-slick streets reflect the blooming canopy, and now, many outdoor recreational activities have resumed with the beautiful weather. Eos park has become a symbol of the season, hosting free sunrise yoga sessions, casual pickleball tournaments throughout the week, and even select wine tastings under lantern lit trees. Food vendors have begun to return to the streets, artists line alleyways with pop up galleries, and for the first time in awhile, the tension looming in the air seems distant- and almost forgettable... Almost.
Ongoing developments, Prompts;
The choices made and the simple act of interacting in these prompts will directly impact the next installment of the story.
✦ Blackout Zone Recovery Surging Forward
Thanks to the combined efforts of Knights and city Engineers, power restoration within the blackout quadrant has accelerated far beyond initial projections. Nearly 75% of the district is now operational, a massive improvement. Above-ground cabling continues to be reinforced and expanded. The zone is steadily transitioning from a war-torn battleground into something starting to resemble a livable district once again.
✦ Blood Moon Restructures and Expands
In the wake of their second-in-command's capture, the long hidden leader of Blood Moon, an illegal street racing gang, has finally resurfaced. It's said that he revealed himself only to select, promising members within the organization. His return has already began to stabilize the internal fractures, and rumors indicate a shift towards recruitment. Entry is far from simple-- prospective recruits must first make contact with an existing member and prove themselves worthy of an introduction to the leader. From there, initiation awaits.
✦ Anomaly Research Progresses
Thanks to a surge of public interest and independent research contributions, the government announced that official research contracts will be granted to those who intend on participating in the documentation and study of the anomalies. Even more notably, approved individuals will gain access to a previously redacted structure within Erebus-- an abandoned house supporting a persistent anomaly that has yet to dissipate.
This marks the first known instance of a stable anomaly.
Preliminary findings have also revealed a compelling pattern: anomaly occurrences appear to cluster in areas exhibiting extreme energy frequencies-- both unusually high and unusually low. Once dismissed as pseudoscience, these "frequency zones" are now being reexamined with renewed urgency, sparking debate and fascination in the scientific community.
✦ North Star Drone Surveillance Footage
Privately operated and repurposed surveillance drones--- rumored to originate from the stolen North Star fleets-- have captured new, previously undocumented data. Moments before an anomaly forms, the air itself begins to distort. The footage was released to some by VENDOR MASCOT MODEL 1.1 S/N: 6578814, i.e. Sparky.
Those who have viewed the footage compare it to the effect of heat shimmering above pavement, but observed patterns reveal something more structured. These distortions follow fractal-like patterns, branching and spreading like veins, roots, or neural pathways. The formations seem to be consistent across the multiple drone-recorded sites, suggesting a shared underlying mechanism... or origin.
The government is attempting to recover the footage for one particular reason: one of the anomalies stands apart. Observers describe the formation like an egg cracking in air, pulsating with an uncanny ire. Loud static an also be heard in this footage, though it is unclear if the noise was a technical malfunction. The anomaly that followed behaved no differently than the others, but suggests that something may be changing.
A fishing tournament is being held on Eau at the end of May, and tourists are more than welcome to try their luck at the event. Hundreds gather from across galaxies to join together for a weekend of magikarp filled fun.
While Eau has a diverse ecosystem of aquatic life, this tournament is focused purely on thinning out the growing overpopulation of magikarp in the area. The little Pokémon eat absolutely everything, reproduce rapidly, and pose a dangerous threat in the rare case of an evolution.
All participants will receive a commemorative pin, but a few lucky captures of shiny magikarp are possible. These contestants will get a special, golden version of the same pin.
The lucky numbers are 7, 11, 33, 64, 98
Prompt;
✦ Depict your character participating in the fishing tournament on Eau. Keep its tropical setting in mind when you draw, write, or roleplay for this event!
✦ When you submit your piece, a moderator will ask you to roll 3 d100. If you roll one of the lucky numbers, your character caught a shiny magikarp at some point during the event. There are also some other secret numbers that can be rolled, but they are only for funsies.
✦ You may try multiple times with different pieces/characters. Sketches and doodles are fine!
✦ Participation badges will be available as role badges! The golden one is rare and collectable :)
A very special boy that can win you a very special badge :)
