Un Eté Blanc (A White Summer) is a 3D Adventure-Puzzle game on PC. In game, you play a little robot that must warm the fallen stars to put them back in the sky. It was my first 3D game and was made in 5 months with 3 Game Designers and 5 Game Artists.
For this project, I was Gameplay Programmer, Game Designer and Level Designer. I had the following responsabilities :
-Program all gameplay features, including controller (on ground and on ice), ice evelators, snowball throw, etc
-Design the core gameplay of the game with the other Game Designers
-Work on the world design and the pacing of the game
-Design puzzles with another Game Designer
Un été blanc is an Adventure-puzzle game but it's also very close to a "walking simulator". We really focused on the player experience for this game, with a great gamefeel, some poetry and environemental narration.
I had the chance to be responsible of the ice skating feature, which was a lot of fun to make. It was a huge success because after some playtesting, almost all the players said the Ice skating feature was their favorite part of the game !
Another feature I worked on is the snowball throwing, which was fun to make.
We also asked friends to make an orignal score for the game with piano and violin.
We are very proud of the final product. Seeing people enjoying the game was extremely pleasent !
I made a tool to allow the game and level designer to set up the golem's path. With this tool, the game designer can set up points which will draw a line. The golem, once renimated by the player, will follow this line. The colours represent the distance between the start of the path (in green) and the end (in red). I also made an option "loop" which will make the golem go back to the first point when it reaches the last point, and this forever.
