At Discovery, families play an important role in supporting our students both inside and outside the classroom. One way families contribute is through classroom shifts, which provide additional adult support on campus during key parts of the school day.
Classroom shifts include:
Yard Duty: Helping supervise students during recess and lunch.
Curb Duty: Assisting with student drop-off and pick-up and helping ensure students move safely through the curb area.
These shifts are an important part of keeping our campus safe and organized. During arrival and dismissal, extra adults help monitor students and support a smooth flow of traffic. During recess and lunch, adult volunteers provide additional supervision and help students have a safe and positive experience.
Yard duty and curb duty are also a great way to become familiar with the campus, connect with Discovery students across all of the grade levels, and get to know the daily routines of your student’s school. Your presence makes a difference in helping create a safe, supportive environment for all of our students.
