Decided to Camp? Huzzah!

So you have decided to brave the weather and camp at an event. Huzzah! This is an exciting choice to make as a Newcomer; you’ll really get to experience the SCAdian experience.

As with all camping, there are important things to consider with gear and general preparedness. In fact, there are plenty of modern websites to help you prepare for this venture. This section should provide some basic tips on prepping for your first on-site camping adventure but, truthfully, the best advice that can be given is:

Talk to your fellow shire members.

Most have camped at numerous events (possibly even the exact location you are going to be at!) and can give you real life tips, tricks, and stories about SCA camping. Also consult the Known World Handbook pages 80-101 for excellent advice on everything from masking modern items to essential checklists.
