Crowns & Coronets
Kings & Queens
According to Kingdom Law:
“The Sovereign and Consort may wear crowns of precious metal with points, ornamented as They see fit.”
Often the King and Queen have the tallest crowns that you will see.
Princes & Princesses
According to Kingdom Law:
“The Crown Prince and Crown Princess may wear crowns of precious metal with points, ornamented as They see fit.”

Dukes & Duchesses
According to Kingdom Law:
“Dukes and Duchesses may wear coronets of precious metal, embellished with strawberry leaves, ornamented as they see fit, the overall height not to exceed 4 inches.”
A Duke or Duchess has reigned two or more times as King or Queen.
Counts & Countesses
According to Kingdom Law:
“Counts and Countesses (and those with alternate titles of the same rank) may wear coronets of precious metal embattled, ornamented as they see fit, the overall height not to exceed 3 inches.”
A Count or Countess has ruled as King or Queen once. Their coronets are “embattled” or are squared off like a castle wall.
Viscounts & Viscountesses
According to Kingdom Law:
“Viscounts and Viscountesses may wear coronets of silver embattled, ornamented as they see fit, the overall height not to exceed 3 inches.”
A Viscount or Viscountess has been a Prince or Princess of a Principality. This title is rare in the SCA.
Barons & Baronesses
According to Kingdom Law:
“Territorial Barons and Baronesses may wear coronets of precious metal with 6 spheroids or precious stones, with simple ornamentation, the overall height not to exceed 3 inches.”
“Court Barons and Baronesses may wear coronets of precious metal with 6 spheroids or precious stones, with simple ornamentation, the overall height not to exceed 2 inches.”
There are two types of Barons and Baronesses: territorial and court.
A territorial Baron / Baroness swears fealty to the Crown of Meridies but “rules” over a Barony. According to the New Group Guide, “This type of SCA group is formed where there is a very large density of population and more than twenty-five experienced sustaining members of the SCA wishing to be recognized as a Barony.”
A Court Baron / Baroness has been given the title of Baron or Baroness by Their Majesties.

Grant of Arms
According to Kingdom Law:
“Members of the Populace with Grants of Arms may wear a plain circlet of any metal with no protrusions above or below the band, the overall height of which shall not exceed 1/2 inch.”
Award of Arms
According to Kingdom Law:
“Members of the Populace with Awards of Arms may wear a plain circlet of any metal with no protrusions above or below the band, the overall height of which shall not exceed 1/4 inch.”
