Firstly, congratulations on passing the application stage and getting accepted into PD. Now you face 4/5 different stages before you become a official officer.
Stage 1: The Interview
This part should take 15-20 minutes depending on your own knowledge and the point of it is to see whether you are truly fit for the MPS and also to guide you whether it truly is something you want to become a part of.
Stage 2: Basic Training
After passing your interview successfully, you move onto the basic training stage where you are taught all the basics of PD along with everything you need to be aware of before becoming an officer. This stage should take approximately 45 minutes.
Stage 3: Field Operations Training (SO Only)
If you are a Student Officer (SO), after passing your basic training you will move onto the FO Training which exists to help you with additional training and also to fill in any possible gaps or questions you may have.
Stage 4: Ridealong
After passing your basic training or FO training you will move onto the ridealong stage, which is by far the most important stage out of all of them. During your ridealong you will patrol with another officer (NOT ALLOWED TO GO ON YOUR OWN) and have the ability to demonstrate all that you have learned up to this point as well as learn crucial parts of policing, such as; how to negotiate, detain suspects, process individuals, perform traffic stops and much more. This stage should take 5 hours or 10 hours if you are a Student Officer. During this stage the last hour of your ridealong must be conducted by a CoP member or bronze command + Ridealong Handbook.
Stage 5: Final Exam
Congratulations you have now passed every stage and are one away from becoming a official officer of the MET. The final exam is where all your skills and knowledge will be put to a test and if you pass you are officially part of the MPS. This stage should take roughly an hour.
