When approaching a breach, these are the procedures all officers should follow every breach step by step.
All officers should split up into groups if there is more than 1 entrance.
Attempt to communicate with the suspects inside and give 2 verbal warnings with 5 seconds in between to give them a chance to give up.
All officers will then stack up left to right.
The leaders of each entrance will then communicate with each other through radios if everyone is ready to breach “ Foxtrot set, Bravo set”.
The leader of Foxtrot will then make the call to breach, and all units will move in.
When it comes down to who goes where, it should go as followed at all time;
SCO-19
Assault rifle trained officers
SMG Trained Officers
Shotgun Trained Officers
Glock Trained Officers (Should be used for /shield if needed)
Breaching a building is something you may have to do as your time as an officer, Building breaches are primarily done by members of SCO19 or divisional command however you may be asked to assist dependent on the amount of suspects and officers on scene linked below will be the full breaching handbook but here are some key points to consider whilst breaching a building.
Are there any hostages in the building? If there is, you must ask them to bring them to the front of the building so you can negotiate for their lives.
What weapons the suspects have(Melees,Phase1/2/3)
How many suspects are inside(You can use NPAS or Drones to figure out how many people are inside the building your wanting to breach)
Scene containment as a lower ranking officer you may be asked to set up scene containment to ensure they don’t try and leave the building or other people do not get involved.
How many entry/exit points there are on the building and if you have enough officers to safely cover all the entry/exit points.
When breaching a building, at times you will need to use a shield. Glock-trained individuals typically use shields, as they are not always necessary during a breach. To get one out, do /shield and choose the long shield, as it will cover all your body. Stand in the middle or side when breaching, depending on where you have been asked to go by an officer. When you have breached, stay close to the officer so that they have some cover in the open spots in the building, try and block the shots from the suspects while trying not to get shot in the head. If needed you can get to a place and put the shield away and pull your firearm out if officers start to die.
The situation may arise where a joint operation is brought together following the detainment and arrest of a known criminal where officers believe their property including vehicles and houses may be linked with crime, criminal activity or an investigation. Once certain parameters are met, CMG Founders, Gold Command and CO-1, CO-2 & CO-3 may authorise a house warrant giving the Police Department the power to gain entry and seize and property of the suspect.
This house raid once authorised will be conducted by SCO-19 however other officers may be asked to help with containment and securing the scene; control traffic and pedestrian access and transportation.
The breaching structure handbook can be found HERE for anything else you are unsure of.
