The background situation
Assistive technology (AT) can improve the quality of life for patients and professionals. AT team, practices, PCN and pharmacists are involved in providing, supporting and training the use of AT.
The challenge and complication
Everyone is not confident in using AT. The Medication Dispenser is an example of AT. We have worked with the AT team and community pharmacists to improve compliance and reduce the risk. Despite this, there is continued variation in knowledge and skills about AT. This all leads to health inequalities for patients who could benefit from this technology.
Aims & Question
How might we improve the use of assistive technology and reduce health inequalities in vulnerable patients?
Objectives
1. Outline the benefits and risks.
2. Identify the users and stakeholders
3. Suggest possible ideas and implement
4. Evaluate the implementation
5. Scale across ICS
