1946 – Born on 20 June 1946 in Liskow (Poland). Married, one child.

1963 – Bachelor degree at the Liceum Hernryka Sienkiewicza in Wrzesnia (Poland).

1968 – Magister of physics at the University Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan (Poland).

1969 – Assistant at the Technical University in Poznan.

1970 – DEA de Physique des Solides at the University Paris-Sud in Orsay, France.

1972 – PhD with Etienne Guyon at the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides in Orsay.

1973 – Chargé des Recherches at CNRS.

1976 – Habilitation with Etienne Guyon at the Laboratoire de Physique des Solides in Orsay.

1979 – Post-doc with R.B. Meyer at Brandeis University.

1984 – Directeur des Recherches at CNRS.

1989 – Fellow at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin.

2011 – Directeur de Recherches émérite at CNRS.
