Life Drawing classes...
-----
My own history of practicing doing Life Drawing...
- Life Drawing at Lambeth College: Adare Centre in Streatham, London, UK
- Life Drawing Network...run by an Italian artist guy: Tony Pianco (at least, I think, that's how you spell his last name); they had meetings being located all over London.
- Morley College FREE Fine Art Foundation short introductory course lasting 12 weeks (it included doing some Life Drawing, too; as well as, sculpture/print making/-etc.)
- LARA/London Atellier of Representational Art...I visited branches in Vauxhall/and, also, Stockwell.
- Artist: Philip Firsov (Russian)/also, used to put on doing Life Drawing classes in London...which I would, sometimes, attend.

The importance of learning to draw from 'real life' forms...
It is very important that the artist must study drawing 3D form...be that drawing from 3D sculptures/or, 'real life' forms/even buildings; as they will need to learn how to successfully be able to translate this 3D form...down onto what is, essentially, a 2D 'flat' sheet of paper/or, canvas/screen.
Certainly, one of the most difficult forms to 'master' learning is the nude...whether male/or, female/both; because the perspective changes so much...not just merely 'one' body part, alone, such as, the hand...a hand can be relaxed/or, stiff/or, somewhere in between these two states...furthermore, it can be viewed from any angle: up/down/left/right/diagonal...a hand close/medium/far; -etc.; now, if that wasn't hard enough...then, imagine having to understand absolute everything...meaning, all of the different body parts...when being seen in their proper perspective...going from head all the way straight down to foot?
Trying to draw human beings purely from 'imagination' is something I find to be extremely difficult...why, because there is no visible reference to see? At least, having some form you can actually see and refer to ...helps you to understand exactly how bones/muscles work; what are their proper proportions/perspective; how such body parts are affected by 'light/shade'.

Paying for classes when you are poor...
To be perfectly honest...my own Life Drawing ability was so damn awful...that many times I quit...why bother to pay to attend Life Drawing class, that you can hardly afford, when all you're going to produce is crap, crap, and, more CRAP drawings?! However, either sooner or later, my mind would return back to practicing doing it, again and again...with the hope that one day I just might be able to improve...then, I could produce work that I'm, well and truly, proud of...instead, of feeling totally ashamed...just wish to 'hide' it away, instead.
Of course, you also learn a lot by seeing how other far more experienced artists do things. What materials they use to practice drawing with; how they measure...and, also, witnessing seeing the many different styles of drawing. So, it's not just a case, of going to see the 'model', alone...though, that is the main goal; but, you also go there to see/meet up with other like minded artists...who are going through all of the same struggles you are...how do they manage to overcome dealing with such struggles.
-(NOTE: Being a normal heterosexual guy, I didn't particularly enjoy having to go draw 'male nudes'(seeing it as, frankly, a waste of money); always, preferred drawing 'female nudes', instead(they 'inspired' me to want to continue drawing); but, the truth is...if you wish to become an artist...then, it's necessary to master learning how to draw both bodily structures/and, not just merely one.)-
