Foreword...

I was brought up strictly Roman Catholic Christian...
-> Baptised, as a child
-> Confirmed, in my youth
As a child, my mum 'forced' me to go out and attend church mass every single Sunday. However, as an adult I no longer go to visit church mass on Sunday's, anymore; most certainly, not by my own deliberate choice; instead, I go and visit churches purely 'randomly'...meaning, any day/time of the week...whenever I'm either walking/or, cycling along the streets in London.
-(Sometimes, for whole weeks/months...I never step foot inside of a church; though, I might pass by them when going along down the streets. What I do is, simply, stay home and pray, instead. If somebody were to ask me...is there a God/or, not? Then, I can only answer them, quite truthfully, I honestly don't know...never seen he/she/it. Who knows, maybe, Science is correct in stating that there is no God? But, deep down inside, I'd like to believe there is a God...so, that evil people will get their just punishment after death by going to Hell/and, also, so that good people will get to go up to Heaven.)-
-----
Also, I don't necessarily go and visit Roman Catholic churches, alone; instead, I go and visit 'any' church...
-> Buddhist
-> Church of England
-> Hari Krishna
-> Hindu
-> Jehoviah Witness
-> Muslim
-> Protestant
-> Russian Orthodox
-> etc.
To me, there is one God...that loves us ALL...and, that's that; and, it really doesn't matter what denomination/faith you are from.
-----
Anyway, the theme of 'Christ on the cross'...which one sees in every Catholic church...has always very deeply 'haunted' me...; and, thus, has been a constant theme which I tend to refer back to, repeatedly, again and again....drawing it using a mixture of different styles ranging from: 'realistic'/'abstract'/or, a mixture of 'abstract-real'.
-----
I should also like to add that being a great art lover myself...and, a passionate collector of art related books/regular visitor to art galleries...I often seen this type of scenery having been depicted by many 'famous' artists including: Michelangelo/Da Vinci/Raphael/Guercino/Murillo/Matisse/Picasso/Van Gogh/Gauguin/-etc.; so these artists whose work that I do very deeply respect and admire...also, influenced me to want to think about/and, draw this subject a whole lot.
Though, in my own personal opinion...Christ isn't 'white'.../nor, for that matter, is God; but, instead, God is a spirit...and, therefore, is of no particular colour at all.
