Shell Show

Annual Shell Show

From 1965 to 2013, the club hosted an annual shell show at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI), in Portland. Beginning in August 2014, the shell show will become a part of the Oregon State Fair. The show will be held in the Jackman-Long Building and run the length of the show.

The show consists of exhibits prepared by club members and judged, with awards given. The "Shells For Sale" area is the major fundraiser for the club. A hands-on table allows children and adults to handle the shells, and ask questions from club members. A raffle-like spin wheel gives children the opportunity to win seashells at a very nominal price. The public can view the displays and then buy seashells at the sale booth.
