Ingredients:
1 cup walnuts
1 bay leaf
A blade of mace
Salt
Water
1 orange
French dressing
Lettuce leaves
Instructions:
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
Add the walnuts, bay leaf, and mace to the boiling water.
Boil for 10 minutes.
Drain the walnuts in a colander and rinse with cold water.
Remove the bay leaf and mace.
Peel and dice the orange, remove pips.
In a bowl, combine the walnuts and orange pulp.
Add enough French dressing to coat the salad.
Toss to combine.
Serve very cold on lettuce leaves.
Tips:
For a more flavorful salad, toast the walnuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for a few minutes before boiling them.
For a lighter dressing, try using a vinaigrette dressing instead of French dressing.
