Ingredients:
2 seedless oranges
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk
2 eggs
Pinch of salt
Oil for frying
Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions:
Peel the oranges and carefully separate the sections, keeping the thin inner skin intact.
In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and milk until smooth.
Beat the eggs in a small bowl and then whisk them into the batter.
Dip each orange section in the batter, coating it evenly.
Heat the oil in a large skillet or deep fryer over medium-high heat until it reaches 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Carefully fry the orange sections in batches until they are golden brown and cooked through, about 2 minutes per side.
Remove the fritters from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain them on paper towels.
Dust the fritters with powdered sugar and serve immediately.
Tips:
For a thicker batter, add a little more flour. For a thinner batter, add a little more milk.
Be careful not to overcrowd the skillet when frying the fritters. This will lower the temperature of the oil and make them soggy.
If you don't have a thermometer, you can test the temperature of the oil by dropping a small piece of batter into it. If the batter sizzles and floats to the top, the oil is ready.
Serve the fritters warm for the best flavor and texture.
Enjoy!
