An excellent teacher is expected to set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils by:
Every morning and throughout the day I look at my surroundings to ensure that there is no potential risk in the learning environment. Whenever I have a concern, I fill in the risk assessment form and channel the issue to the designated individual if I am not able to mitigate the risk.
Creation of a stimulating environment by use of working walls and displays in the classroom which the pupils were involved.(KS1)
Student voice - I encourage the more knowledgeable pupils to explain how they perceived concepts so the pupils can learn from one another. One pupil is demonstrating his understanding while the other pupil is watching and learning.
While learning numeracy, I set higher goals to challenge the pupil. Once they counted up-to three, I stretched them to go further up by counting six, ten and thirteen respectively.
Next steps comment is essential to include in marking.(KS1)
I regularly conduct end of unit assessment and give constructive feedback to pupils.(KS1)
When we were learning about the torch we drew and decorated a torch and wrote a few sentences about what we were learning.(EYFS)
A display to remind and enforce the sounds we have been learning. (EYFS)
I rewarded the pupils who followed instructions with a smiley and a star. It motivated all the pupils to do better next time. (EYFS)
Lesson plan which includes and enforcing activity especially for Assessment for Learning (AfL).
One pupil was struggling was finally able to write the tricky word "to". (EYFS)
A great teacher models and rewards good behaviour while relating with anyone in the school including the pupils, visitors, support staff etc. I'm always keen to reward pupils especially in the areas they struggle with - rewarding a child with a high-five for using a polite word "Excuse me".(EYFS)
Braeburn Schools' mission, vision and guiding statements give clear goals that the schools intend to achieve through the learning process both in and outside the classroom.
I am committed to each child as an individual and I take time to listen and help them cope when they need individual help.
