Student registration fee is $30 | Teachers collect registration fees | Invoices should be paid through a single check from the school or booster group.
* This year, OMEA has voted to reduce the honor festival registration fees by 25% to spend down our surplus. This will benefit all districts.

Noreen Norfleet
Noreen Norfleet
Noreen Norfleet has taught band for 17 years, the last four at Morgan Middle School in Ellensburg, Washington. Morgan Middle School offers a comprehensive band experience to 240 band students who enjoy participating in concert band, jazz and percussion.
Before coming to Ellensburg, Noreen taught at Newport High School (Bellevue, WA) where her concert bands, jazz ensembles and the marching band all earned superior ratings at all local and regional festivals and included music tours to California and Georgia. Noreen has also taught music in Vancouver, WA and Salem, OR.
Noreen has Masters and Bachelors degrees in music from Oregon State University, where she served as principal trumpet in the OSU Symphony Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, drum major of the OSU Marching Band, and graduate teaching assistant for the OSU Band Program.
Noreen and her husband Lewis have two boys, Billy and Jimmy, and they enjoy supporting their childrens’ love of music, soccer and swimming.

- Black slacks, shoes, and socks.
- Festival t-shirt (which we will hand out the day of the event)
- No flashy jewelry, sweats, *jeans, tennis shoes, skirts, or high heels.
- *Students who simply can't afford to buy black slacks and dress shoes should be encouraged to borrow from friends, or otherwise come up with the next best option.
EQUIPMENT, RECORDINGS, & REPAIR:

- Demo recordings are available through JWPepper and YouTube.
- Ted Brown is getting back to me on recording the event. I'm going with an 80% chance... If not, I will make sure the concert ends up on YouTube via my recorder.
- There will be NO repair table at this event. Please make sure students come with extra reeds and valve oil.
- Percussion students will need to bring their own sticks and mallets. All other percussion equipment will be provided.
- Students need to bring their own wind and string instruments. NO tubas, bass clarinets, or other instruments will be made available for students that forget their own.

- Students should plan on bringing a sack lunch and a pre-concert snack. If the budget allows for it, we will provide some snacks too, but students should not count on this.
- Families should know that there are MANY great dinner options on Bainbridge Island. Fast food, however, is not readily available.
- Great family dining options include:
- Spice Route Indian Cuisine (on Madison Ave - they are big BHS Band Supporters)
- Several others - I just wanted to put in a plug for Spice Route. ;)

- $40 per student invoiced. (2019 OMEA grant reduction to $30)
- No refunds or reductions after the final invoice date.
- Money should be mailed to the event host(s); payable to OMEA

- BHS is located at the billing address directly above. Please use your favorite mapping application to navigate your way here.
- Checkin is at 8:00 AM in the BHS Commons.
- BHS's campus is a bunch of smaller buildings. The Commons is in the newest building - located on the west end of campus.
- Please have students double check that they have everything:
- Music
- Instruments
- Reeds / valve oil / etc...
- Percussion stuff (everything smaller than a snare drum)
- Concert Clothes (concert black - we'll give them a concert t-shirt)
- LUNCH and snacks
- Concert at 5PM.
- Lost and Found items will be kept for one week, and then donated to Goodwill. I will be the contact for lost items. cthomas@bisd303.org
