Form a Music Coalition...

Music coalitions are community run, teacher supported advocacy groups, grounded in spreading the good news and building strong relationships to policy makers in local school districts.  The Snoqualmie Valley Music Coalition came and presented in the Winter of 2013.  They were AWESOME!  Here's a link to their website. Music advocacy groups like the SVMC have had success in generating an annual report highlighting program performances and accomplishments.  After years of sharing good news and building good will, they were able to generate a ten year strategic plan for programming and curriculum that the district has adopted; a major accomplishment.

Districts interested in forming their own coalitions should  check out their materials; they're free and available for download on their website.  When your report is finalized, consider sharing it with them, because there's talk of collecting data for a state report as well.  Bainbridge has been attempting to get one started, but we're moving very slowly.
