Symphonic Band

Symphonic Band is a concert band ensemble at Olympus High School. The group is focused on acquiring individual and ensemble skill, and preparing for performances for the school and community. All wind players (brass and woodwind) who want to be a part of the band program will take Symphonic Band. Students who want to join the ensemble will need to sign up for the course and audition for the band director. 

The ensemble requires a year long commitment: students are not only expected to be at rehearsals and concerts, but also occassional rehearsals before or after school, sectionals outside of class time, and other performances. Students in Symphonic Band also prepare a solo and ensemble piece during the year, as well as being available for pep band performances. Students who join band should be prepared to practice their music and instrument in preparation for performances. 

Chamber Winds: Students may audition as part of general band auditions to be considered for an after school chamber group that performs more challenging music. They may also be invited to form unique small chamber performing groups throughout the year. 

Students are also encouraged to form their own groups throughout the year, either for Solo and Ensemble or for other concerts.
