It is important that you maintain care of your instruments so that they can stay in great playing shape. The following are some basic maintenance procedures you can follow to take care of your instrument.
Students at OHS are expected to have all of the materials listed and follow the procedures regularly.
If you ever have questions about how to care for your instrument, DON'T GUESS. Talk to the band director or your private teacher first!
If your instrument is not working properly, don't try adjusting it yourself. Take it to the band director, your private teacher, or a professional instrument repair technician.
· Polishing Rag- Have a polishing rag on hand that you can use to clean fingerprints and other oils off your instrument after each use.
· Check pads and keys: Pads and keys will wear out or need adjustment from time to time.
· Swab cloth and rod: Have a thin silk cloth on hand that you can use with your rod to clean out the inside of your flute and mouthpiece after each use. Important not to leave water inside of your flute after use.
