Auditions for the Pit Orchestra change every year based on the musical.
Results will be posted as soon as course numbers/enrollment has been determined through the school Students who miss the auditions in February due to transfer are welcome to reach out for auditions in August. Individuals may be invited to audition in August to fill holes or meet other ensemble needs. Students who have questions about results are invited to speak to the director. Results of auditions are judged on the following:
The skill level of the student, and whether or not they can obtain success within the ensemble.
Behavior and code of conduct: Especially for returning students, whether or not the student has demonstrated a commitment to excellence and to respecting their peers, the director, and the band program. It is also extremely important that students demonstrate availability at rehearsals and for performances.
Especially for returning students: The hard work in skill progression, demonstrated through passing off skills throughout the school year.
Getting into an ensemble does not guarantee permanent standing in the group all year.
Students may be invited to leave based primarily on their behavior and code of conduct. Students will rarely be asked to leave mid-year based on skill level, unless part of a particular ensemble which requires a high level of skill progression to which the student is not committed. Students may also be asked to leave if they cannot maintain habits of work, including missing several rehearsals, dress rehearsals, or are constantly late to rehearsal or not productive in class.
