The first Engineering STEM challenge was undertaken by Mrs Shanahan's 3rd class group where they were presented with the following task 'Build a bridge that goes over the pencil case'. They had to work together and decide how to stagger the blocks to create an ark for the bridge. Their bridge passed the test. Well done girls!
Junior Infants took on a STEM challenge during Halloween of designing a broom. Their goal was to create a place for a witch, cat, dog, bird and frog to sit on the broom. They designed their brooms using blocks, bricks, cubes and playdough and drew a picture of their plan. Fantastic work girls!
6th Class were given the task of creating a 3D Christmas Art Construction. Firstly they used pliers to cut and bend wire into their chosen shape. Secondly, Papier Mache the wire frame with newspaper and wallpaper paste, finishing with a layer of white paper and finally they painted and decorated their superb Christmas projects.
Junior Infants were also getting into the Christmas Spirit and designing and constructing a Winterval Ferris wheel and a Christmas Manger along with other Winterval attractions.

4th class designed and made Sail Cars, using styrofoam, skewers, card, paper, bluetac and a fan to test the car. View the results below.
