4th Class investigated white light using mirrors. When white light meets a shiny surface like a mirror, it bounces off it and is reflected back. In these activities when you look in the mirror the top of your picture becomes the bottom and vice versa. 4th class found it tricky to draw around, especially when you change direction. They also experimented with drawing shapes, their names, symmetrical and non-symmetrical letters.
6th class investigated if 'Air is weightless?', using two air filled balloons, three pieces of string, a metre stick and a string. By popping one balloon, they could see the metre stick slant, proving that the remaining balloon (filled with air) acted as a weight.
6th class designed a rocket and experimented with pressurised air causing force, using a string, straw, cello tape and two chairs. They learned that balloon moved like a rocket along the string and this shows that pressurised air (in the balloon) has force and moves the straw along the string. They also investigated what would happen if they introduced a slope and if the string wasn't taut.
