Description: From: 'La carte Generale de la France ...', a new ed. of the Cassini maps, consisting of 69 maps, published in 1790 and 'Carte Chorographique de Belgique', a new edition of the Ferraris maps, published in 1794, consisting of 65 maps by Louis Capitaine (1749-1797) and Pierre-Gregoire Chanlaire (1758-1817).
Artists and Engravers: Made by an anonymous engraver after 'Louis Capitaine (cartographer)'. Louis Capitaine du Chesnoy (1749-1797) was a French engineer / cartographer. He was the son of Pierre-Charles Capitaine, whose family participated in the making of the Cassini map of France. Louis became responsible for 'la garde du depot de la Carte de France' from 1779.
