Melchioris Nouesiani (Melchior von Neuss) [publisher]
Simon Willem Melchior [owner]
(1881–1968) Printer and publisher from Amersfoort; Breestraat 22 (24); local historian with an interest in genealogy. His printer’s mark [an arrow with a winding sea creature and the motto "Festina Lente"] originates from a firm named Melchior in Neuss (1548); no family connection has been established!
Inside this book, a strip of handwritten parchment is attached. On the parchment there is a manuscript written of the Vulgate Bible, that probably dates around the year 1000 (!). The font is called a Carolingian Minuskel. That means it was written during the life of Burchard von Worms. The fragment was probably recovered after the latest restoration of the book (1950-1970).
