THE JOY OF COLLECTING OLD BOOKS
Discover my collection of more than 350 rare and early modern books, with a special focus on works printed in Antwerp, one of the most significant printing centers of the early modern period. These books, published between 1496 and 1837, showcase the rich intellectual, religious, and cultural heritage of the era. The collection also includes a fascinating selection of books featuring maculature—recycled printed material used in bookbinding—offering unique insights into the practices and economics of early printing. Languages represented include Latin, Dutch, Italian, Czech, and French, reflecting the diversity of early European scholarship.
Religious texts form the core of the collection, complemented by historical, philosophical, and literary works. With bindings ranging from vellum and leather to modern restorations, and a focus on the Low Countries, this collection celebrates the craftsmanship of early book production while serving as a window into the ideas that shaped Europe’s history.
