History of Halloween Puppets for Untitled: Artist Takeover
October 2025, Denver Art Museum
I created 13 shadow puppets to be used in an interactive exhibit on Halloween at the Denver Art Museum. One of the featured artists, Kristina Maldonado Bad Hand, asked if I could make them to match with the shadow puppet theatre that she and her husband had built. I said yes, and spent the next week designing and cutting them all out by hand.
The theme of the exhibit was "History of Halloween." I made sure to include some classic shapes like ghosts and witches, but also some specific puppets like Stingy Jack, depicting the history of jack o' lanterns and the Cat Sidth, a legend about a black fairy cat with a white chest.
Guests were able to use the puppets in the theatre to make their own stories. It was cool to see my work being interacted with by the public.
Shadow Puppets & Theatre for Children's Workshop
February 2026, Denver CO
I created these puppets to be used in a shadow puppet workshop that I did with 1st graders at a local school! I showed them all of the puppets and explained how light and shadow work. After my puppet show presentation, they made their own shadow puppets. The teacher and I walked around to help and answer questions.
I was really happy with how this workshop turned out. The kids were all very interested in the puppets and ended up with amazing creations that they were proud to show off to everyone.
Snoof Puppets Used in a Holiday Short Film
September-December 2025, Denver CO
All of these fluffy puppets were made by me based on Adam Kreutinger's Snoof pattern. I made modifications to create longer snouts, tried different materials for eyes, lashes, and brows, and other changes to get the look that I am going for.
A few of my characters were used in a Christmas short for Denver Community Media and I was able to puppeteer one of them. It was my first experience performing in front of a camera. I loved it all and would love to do more projects like this in the future!
