This project was created in my props class that I took in college. We were tasked with making a short stool in any style that we wanted. I thought that a heart shape would be a unique design.
I drew out my blueprints and figured out measurements. I glued 3 layers of 3/4" ply together and cut it into legs, then cut the heart out with a jigsaw. I left a hole in the center for the button to be pulled through later. I attached the legs together in a triange shape, stained them, and cut a piece of foam into a heart. Then I wrapped the plywood and foam heart shapes in some batting and stapled red fabric from a pillowcase over it.
Next, I sewed on the button and created the edging using some thin rope and fabric. I added the edging and sealed off the bottom with black fabric. I screwed the legs onto the bottom, and had a complete stool! I loved this process and would like to work on more upholstery in the future.
