A1.2 RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
If police respond to a scene and the suspects do not have a hostage, police are authorized to secure the scene by any means necessary after first contact is made.
Police should respond to all scenes with at least ONE lethal and ONE non-lethal weapon in hand. If an officer responds to a scene alone, then they should respond with lethal at the ready in an effort to protect their own life.
Incapacitating a suspect (taser, pepperspray, tackle, etc.) before a chase ensues is allowed as long as the suspect does not have a hostage. They are committing a crime. You do not always have to give them the chance to run as they should know and understand the risks they are taking.
Refrain from intentionally ramming, pitting, or slamming into suspects' vehicles unless there is a good reason for it. Mistakes and accidents happen -- bubbles exist. Sometimes a pit or ram can be unintentional. However, please refrain from ramming other vehicles during chases unless it is absolutely necessary and justified. If a suspects hits your vehicle at slow speeds, this does NOT give you the green light to suicide ram them. Keep it professional.
Boosting: If you respond to a suspect boosting vehicles and they are boosting a slower vehicle (D, C, & B class), please ensure you match the patrol vehicle to the vehicle in the chase. For example, if someone is boosting a D class car that does not go above 80mph and has no upgrades, please try to use a slower rental PD vehicle.
