In August 2022, representatives from EM, IT, Student Affairs, StudentLink, URPA, and Usability Lab came together for an interactive workshop on technology, data, and communications. Participants shared existing roadmaps, priorities, and identify key considerations, requirements, and opportunities for the work ahead.
A wide range of stakeholders were also invited to participate in a short technology, data, and communication survey, sharing their priorities and current/past efforts of getting students just-in-time information.
Some overall themes we saw in the responses:
Updated navigation/UX of current systems, with clean data and information retrieval
Single channel for information; trying new tools and techniques (texting, push notifications) for improved collaboration across campus
Emails that are strategic and timely - rather than ones that are too long and without effective ways to measure effectiveness
Mobile technology - chatbots, social media, apps; systems that put students first (rather than centering administrative practices)
Cross-departmental collaboration with support from all levels/stakeholders
