The Educational Excellence Committee (EEC) shall promote programs and projects in the pursuit of excellence in education. It shall identify long-term and short-term programs and projects that focus on topics adopted by the Society. The committee shall support programs of action that promote the personal well-being, intellectual growth, and global awareness of educators; encourage a focus on the Arts at State Conventions; and develop strategies that will enable Chapters to encourage members to become leaders. The Committee shall urge Chapters to initiate, endorse and support legislation and suitable endeavors in the interest of education and woman educators such as US Forum, GIRLS Fund (which replaces the former Schools for Africa) and Early Career Educators. One of our tasks as an EEC team is to select and schedule workshops for the spring and fall Executive Board Meetings/ Seminars/Conventions by developing a wide variety of workshops, including those that offer CTLE (Continuing Teacher and Leader Education) professional development credits. Deadlines for submitting Workshop Proposals are November 1 for Spring Executive Board Meetings/Seminars or Conventions and May 1 for the Fall Executive Board Meetings/ Seminars. We also welcome proposals for virtual workshops to be held in between in-person state meetings. The application for Workshop Proposals is available on the NYSO website and should be submitted to Chair Rosemary Van Wart.
On the International Educational Excellence Committee link at www.dkg.org, there are ideas for programs that "advance excellence in education, empower women and increase global awareness." For further information, please contact Chair Rosemary Van Wart.

The NYSO Scholarship Committee is here for you. This Committee promotes interest in and support for scholarships both at the State and International levels in keeping with one of the seven purposes of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society: to endow scholarships to aid outstanding women educators to pursue graduate study. We have expanded that to include other educational goals. Through the generosity of past NYSO members' bequests and the interest accrued from them, as well as Chapter and member contributions, there is money available each year so that the NYSO DKG can offer several scholarships.
These scholarships are available for:
● Graduate study
● Research
● Enrichment study
● Continuing education
● Master's degree study
● Doctoral degree study
● Road Scholar (created by Elderhostel) travel
● Conferences
● National Board Certification.
The Scholarship Committee administers the A. Evadna Crawford, the Phoebe Mersereau Eldredge, the Georgia I. Hartmann, the Jeanette Johnson, the Edna B. Mack, the Jennie Snapp, the Ruth E. Williams Scholarship, the Iona M. Keeler Funds, and the Gladys L. Mersereau Scholarship. Applicants must be active members in good standing for at least 2 years. The maximum award amount is $3000. The DKG member status is waived for applicants of the Gladys L. Mersereau Scholarship. Applications must be postmarked by February 15. The application is available on the NYSO DKG website. For further information, contact Katie Inhelder, Scholarship Committee Chair.
Goals of the Committee
To inform members of the availability of NYSO DKG Scholarships
To create application and rating sheets which are practical and updated

Delta Kappa Gamma Society International established the World Fellowship Fund in 1946 as a project to aid women in war-torn countries and now provides opportunities for women from foreign countries to pursue graduate studies in the United States and Canada. To date more than 963 women from over 122 countries (DKG,2019) have received fellowships to enable them to pursue advanced study in the United States and Canada. The International World Fellowship Committee grants World Fellowships in accordance with the Constitution and International Standing Rules when sufficient funds are available. They maintain contact with the World Fellowship recipients for the duration of their studies when possible. Currently there are 13 recipients with 11 more extended study grants. Our Committee, as in other states, has the added opportunity to encourage members to welcome and develop connections with recipients studying in New York State.
More information available from the International World Fellowship Committee may be found at https://www.dkg.org/category/committees/world-fellowship. For further information on the NYSO World Fellowship Committee, please contact Chair Beryl Szwed.
Goals of the NYSO World Fellowship Committee
Encourage NYSO Chapters to be advocates for World Fellowship and for the World Fellowship Fund.
Raise awareness of the contributions of the World Fellowship to the growth of key women educators.
Develop and extend communication with World Fellowship recipients to enhance mutual understanding.
