The NYSO DKG Audit Committee is responsible for an official examination of all NYSO DKG accounts. This Committee conducts semi-annual audits of NYSO DKG accounts, dues income and payments, funds, financial records and reports, including but not exclusive to Convention, Executive Board Meetings, Area Conferences and FDF.
Goals of the Audit Committee
To conduct semi-annual audits of the NYSO DKG checking and investment accounts
To review member dues payments by Chapter Treasurers and to verify the accurate deposit of NYSO DKG dues/fees in the Available Fund
To verify contributions made to restricted funds (i.e.: Gladys L. Mersereau, Frederica Hollister Friend of Education Award, Native American, etc.)
To verify that withdrawals from restricted funds are in compliance with governing documents
To audit the financial reports from the various State Area Conferences, State Executive Board Meetings, Conventions and Leadership Seminars held during the fiscal year
To audit the financial records of all NYSO DKG fund-raising activities

The BYLAWS & Rules Committee is charged with receiving and studying all proposals for amending or revising the BYLAWS and Standing Rules. The Committee receives and studies all Chapter Standing Rules and make suggestions for compliance with State and International documents.
November 1 is the due date that the NY State BYLAWS & Rules Committee needs to receive (in writing) any proposed amendments or revisions to the BYLAWS and Standing Rules. These amendments will then be voted upon at the NYSO DKG Spring Board Meeting/Seminar or Convention.
Goals of the BYLAWS & Rules Committee
Present workshops as needed at Executive Board/Seminar/Convention meetings
Assist Chapters in their revisions of their Standing Rules during the 2025-2027 biennium.
Send updated BYLAWS and Standing Rules documents to the International Constitution Committee after Convention 2027.
Keep updated files of all NYSO DKG Chapter SR
Write articles for each issue of Pi Lights

The Communications and Publicity Committee makes recommendations for ways to better communicate among, and between state chapters which includes publicizing NYSO DKG in different publications and social media. The committee is responsible for assembling, organizing, and preserving materials essential to the continuation of the history of NYSO DKG, as well as encourage chapters to do the same.
Goals of the Communication and Publicity Committee
Continue with NYSO website audit and recommend moving to Google Sites format.
Update materials on the NYSO website.
Continue to assist chapters in creating websites via Google Sites.
Encourage members to promote their chapters and NYSO DKG by utilizing social media and creating newsletters.
Encourage chapter leadership to review/update materials on creative platforms such as Canva.
Encourage the writing and updating of chapter histories.

The Finance Committee consists of an elected member from each area for a four-year term and the NYSO President for the biennium. The NYSO Treasurer and NYSO Executive Secretary serve as Ex-officio members without vote. The Committee is responsible for the supervision of the financial affairs of NYS Organization DKG, including recommendations for NYSO DKG Finance Committee regarding the expenditure and investment of funds and preparation of a budget for adoption by the Executive Board. Meetings are held online.

Build a positive working relationship with our new investment company committed to timely communication and wise investment of our assets.
Develop and present an annual balanced budget
Develop and implement an electronic voucher system for requesting and documenting reimbursements of approved NYSO expenses
Investigate the option of offering an electronic payment system for member dues and NYSO events
Review insurance carriers and plans to ensure the best options and coverage

The Leadership Development Committee with the support of the Executive Committee plans and implements leadership programs for State and Chapter Officers and State Committee Chairs.
Goals of the Leadership and Development Committee
Develop and present an in-person Leadership Development Workshop for the NYSO Executive Committee.
Develop and present a Leadership Development Seminar for State Committee Chairs and new Chapter Presidents.
Plan and hold workshops for existing and new Chapter Presidents at the Fall Executive Board Meeting/ Seminar, Spring Executive Board Meeting/Seminar and NYSO DKG Convention.

The New York State Organization Membership & Expansion Committee is charged with responsibilities related to membership and membership issues. The Committee will present training sessions for Membership Chairs, recommend women for State Honorary Membership and present the biennial Hour of Remembrance/Celebration of Life Ceremony at the NYSO Convention. The Committee also provides resources for Chapter membership activities and suggestions to assist with recruitment, retention and reinstatement.

Membership in DKG provides multiple opportunities for members to make a difference to impact education worldwide. Through membership, the Society fosters in each member:
• Leadership to build one’s leadership capacity to further personal and professional development and enable her to accept leadership responsibilities
• Engagement to encourage members to work together across the local, regional, state, and international tiers of the Society to develop DKG collaborative communities
• Empowerment to provide opportunities for each member to realize her full potential
• Communication and links through blogs and social networking to reach across the tiers of the Society
Goals of the Membership & Expansion Committee
Share information from DKG International regarding protocols for membership with NYSO Chapters and to support these efforts to recruit, retain and reinstate membership in the Society.
Nurture NYSO Chapters by providing encouragement and support with information and membership-related workshops and by facilitating collaboration among Chapters through Area Council resources.
Communicate regularly with NYSO Chapters and members via email, Pi Lights, workshops and the NYSO website and explore the use of social media.
Continue to share and update the NYSO Membership & Expansion Newsletter that consolidates membership resources to be utilized by Chapters.
Encourage Chapters to send the Report of the Death of a Member (NYSO Form 6) to the NYSO Membership Committee promptly following the death of a member.
Communicate clearly with Chapters that the Annual Necrology Report (NYSO Form 2) is required filing ... for every Chapter ... every year ... and to achieve 100% response. Please note annual filing is required even if no death has occurred.
Honor deceased members by sending condolence cards to family members and Chapters and by conducting a solemn and respectful Hour of Remembrance/Celebration of Life Ceremony in coordination with the NYSO Music Chair.
Provide information to Chapters regarding the procedure to select members to recommend for NYSO State Honorary Membership
To meet via Zoom with NYSO Area Council Chairs to support membership issues.
To meet via Zoom with Chapter Membership and Necrology Chairs to support their membership roles.
Continue to address membership goals in the NYSO SAP Report.

The NYSO DKG Nominating Committee screens and reviews all candidate nomination/applications, including credentials and letters of support, and recommends a slate of NYSO DKG officers to the NYSO DKG Executive Board for action at the NYSO DKG Convention. The Committee is also responsible to recommend nominees for the Area Council representatives to the NYSO DKG Nominating and Finance Committees to the NYSO DKG Executive Board for action, based on the rotation schedule.
The Nominating Committee informs members of the responsibilities of each position and the tasks to be performed. It is the Committee’s responsibility to send articles about vacancies and candidate selections to the NYSO DKG Editor for advertising in Pi Lights and to members of NYSO DKG through communication with Chapter Presidents and posting on the NYSO DKG website.

Communicate the biennial election of NYSO DKG Officers and Area Council representatives for the Finance and Nominating Committees to all NYSO DKG members, using Pi Lights and the NYSO DKG website as well as communications with Chapter Presidents.
Promote the responsibilities of each position for all to understand the responsibilities of the position and the tasks to be performed.
Review all candidates’ credentials and letters of support for each NYSO DKG Officer position.
Recommend a slate of NYSO DKG Officers to the Executive Board for action.
Recommend nominees from Area Councils for election to Nominating and Finance Committees to NYSO DKG Executive Board.
Provide summary biographies, including candidate photographs for elected Officer position for publication in Pi Lights and on the website.

The Personnel Committee screens and reviews all candidate applications for Elected Personnel positions and recommends candidates to the NY State Executive Board for action. The Committee then recommends candidates for Elected State Personnel (Executive Secretary, Treasurer, Editor, Financial Development Fund Administrator and Webmaster). During the 2025-27 Biennium, applications for the positions of Treasurer, Editor, and later in the year, Technology Coordinator will be available. If a vacancy occurs in a position, the NYSO President may request assistance from the Personnel Committee for help in soliciting candidate(s) to appoint to finish the remaining term(s) of office.
