What Are Redhawks Being For Halloween?

Kiki Martignoni

The air is getting colder, the leaves are becoming warmer and our seasonal favorite foods are making a comeback into our daily fall lives. This means that Halloween is only a few short weeks away, and many students are getting into the spooky season. Although some people feel like trick-or-treating is for little kids, Nyack High School freshmen are planning some pretty cool Halloween costumes for this year.

Sometimes, older students choose more specific costumes to try to “fit in”; spooky costumes or basic ideas. Surprisingly, Nyack High School students have chosen some very modern and creative friend group costume ideas. Here are two:

Female Pirates:

Brooke Castaldo, freshman: “I am going to do pirates.”

Kiki: “Who are you going to be doing that with?”

B: “Bella, Lili, Ella, Gia and Elly, yeah I think that's it!”

K: “How long has this Halloween costume been planned for?”

B: “It hasn't been a plan for a long time, maybe about a week?”

After finding out what Brookes Halloween group costume was I realized that there was so many different types of “the slops” that you can do.  “The slops” is a slang word for pirate clothing!

Wedding Ghosts:

Lena Frappier, freshman: “This Halloween I'm going to be doing sheet ghosts”

K: “Who are you going to be doing sheet ghosts with?”

L: “I'm going to be doing sheet ghosts with my friend, Mia”

K: “Are you just going to be doing just a white sheet or are you going to add accessories with it?”

L: “Me and her are going to be doing wedding sheet ghosts. One of us is going to be wearing a top hat with a bow tie, and the other one is going to be wearing a veil!”

K: “Do you know yet who is going to be wearing what, or are you just going to plan that out when it gets closer to Halloween?”

L:  “Me and  Mia actually haven't figured out who's going to be wearing what, but we definitely know that we're going to be wedding sheet ghosts together.”

Multiple people that I’ve interviewed over the course of a week think that a character from the TV show Gilmore Girls is going to be the most popular costume this year.

I am so excited to see everyone on Halloween night in their spooky, cute, fancy costumes! However you plan on celebrating - have a spoOOoOooooOoky Halloween!
