In support of SG60, our students have embraced environmental sustainability and community inclusivity through their Values in Action (VIA) projects. Their initiatives span from nature trails and wetland conservation to meaningful community engagement at active ageing facilities. The following showcase highlights how our students have turned values into action, creating positive impact in areas ranging from waste reduction and green spaces to intergenerational bonding and support for vulnerable communities.

Sungei Buloh Diversity Trail
In their Biology lessons, the 4E1 and 4E4 students explored ecosystems, biodiversity, and conservation. To deepen their understanding, they recently visited the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, where they connected their textbook knowledge to real-world experiences. During the trip, students took notes, captured videos and photos as they explored the mangrove, and used this data to complete a conservation project.

The Service Learning Club visited Sungei Buloh in January to explore the sights and sounds of nature, where they observed migratory birds, mangrove wildlife, and various plant species. They also learned about the importance of wetland conservation and the delicate balance of the ecosystem.
On 4 February, the Service Learning Club reflected on their learning journey to Sungei Buloh. Students learned how to create a simple photo board by pairing a well-framed picture with an engaging caption incorporating literary devices such as alliteration, metaphor, personification, and hyperbole.

The students of 4E3 accompanied a few seniors from two NTUC Health Active Ageing Centres to Bukit Merah Hawker Centre for breakfast. During this meaningful VIA activity, they shared warm conversations, bringing joy to the seniors while fostering valuable intergenerational bonds.

4N3 students organised an engaging session at the NTUC Health Active Ageing Centre (Marsiling), where they conducted two enriching activities for the seniors. They chaired a Bingo session and conducted a calming origami workshop where they patiently guided the seniors in creating paper art. These activities not only promoted physical wellness and creativity but also fostered meaningful connections between the students and the seniors.

Total Recall by Filo is a meaningful programme designed to help students understand ageing-related issues, especially dementia. Through this initiative, we nurture care, respect, and empathy for the elderly, shaping a more compassionate generation. ❤️

Supporting Grace Lodge Through Community Care
As part of their VIA (Values in Action) project, 3C organised a food collection drive to support the elderly residents of Grace Lodge, a nursing home committed to providing a safe and caring environment for seniors. The students rallied together to collect essential items such as coffee, Milo, and biscuits, thoughtfully selecting goods that would bring comfort and joy to the residents. Through their efforts, they not only provided for the practical needs of the elderly but also helped brighten their days with small acts of kindness, embodying the spirit of compassion and community service.
