NTU offers two renowned Mandarin language programs on the main campus in Taipei: the International Chinese Language Program (ICLP) and the Chinese Language Division (CLD) of the Language Center. Both programs use the surrounding resources of NTU and Taipei to engage students in holistic learning of the Chinese language and culture in Taiwan. Students apply to enroll in one or more terms of one of the programs; each term is approx. 3 months long. Upon completion of the program, students will receive both an official NTU transcript and an end-of-term grade report from their language program.
During students’ duration of Chinese language studies in Taiwan, they will receive a monthly scholarship of NT $28,000 (approx. US $900).
Outside of the classroom, students will have the opportunity to participate in the "Hands Together” initiative. In this extracurricular initiative, students will be partnered with NTU students and help local elementary or junior high school students practice English through various classroom activities. Hands Together provides a chance for students to visit K-12 schools in Taiwan and interact with junior students.
CLD and ICLP's courses differ in a few key aspects in terms of class structure and foci of training. Students are encouraged to visit the respective program website in addition to considering the following characteristics made by the NTU Huayu BEST Program team.
