Affinity

We used to used Illustrator, but it's a pain for students to get on their laptops, let alone run on laptops. Affinity was bought by Canva and released late 2025 as a FREE package. Meaning that YOU can install and use it for FREE. We think this is a better approach for your studies, and truth be told, it's pretty darn good software!

Affinity is a BIG program that does a LOT of stuff, but we're going to keep it focused on Vector for the moment. Watch over these tutorials to get the basics and the most important tools are the PEN TOOL, GRADIENTS, SHAPES, SHAPE BUILDER and LAYERS.

*Note: Some students have found that they might be running Windows 11 S (meaning you can only install stuff via the Store). You can turn this off but following these instructions: Get out of Windows S
