There we go with more french. I am glad to say that reading in french turned out to be not as unpleasant as I feared it would be (no offence to french people). Besides this one is actually a play and I quite enjoy those. French plays (comedies in this case) especially like the ones written between the 17th and 19th century are pretty similar in my opinion. I feel like they are all quite overexagerrated and dramatic. Not gonna lue though they are pretty enjoyable, at least for me. Besides they are quite short which is nice, because I was told by one of my teachers that to prepare por the finals next year I should read a book/booklet per week.
This play...I don't even know how to describe it. You have the plot of the story centers around George Dandin, a nobleman who has married a noble woman called Angélique whose parents are Mr. and Mme. Sotenville, ver noble and honorable people. One day George catches Clitandre's servant, one of their neighbours, hurrying out of his house. The servant doesn't know who he is so he tells George that he was here on behalf of his master to tell Angélique that he is in love with her. The servant begs George not to tell anyone, especially if he knows her husband because this guy was presumed to be an unintelligent fellow. Upon learning this George get really mad and goes to his in-laws to spill the tea about their daughter. They can't beleive it, but admit that if what he's saying is true, they will surely disown her. After they get back to the house, they find Angélique and Clitandre together who come up with some excuse about it. After being asked by her parents if her husband's presumptions are really true, they both deny it and start blabbing some excuses. The parents ultimately beleive their daughter as George doesn't have any actual proof. After many similar encounters, George still can't manage to prove that his wife is having an affair, he ends up utterly defeated and gives up.
Star rating: I fell like I can't give this play more than three stars because yes it was quite funny and enjoyable to read but it isn't anything out of the ordinary and to be honest my yearning for her parents to find out th truth was never fulfilled and I was anoyed.
