Five teenagers from Angel Grove, California, are recruited by wizard, Zordon, and trained to become Power Rangers. Power Rangers use their special powers (super-speed, enhanced strength and agility, extra-sensory perception, invisibility, etc.) and large, technologically advanced fighting machines, called Zords, to defeat their enemies, led by sorceress, Rita Repulsa.
Power Rangers must abide by the following rules:
>They can’t use their powers for personal gain.
>They can’t start a confrontation; they can only retaliate if they are attacked first.
>They can’t disclose their true identities to anyone.
If they break any of these rules, their powers will be taken from them.
When “morphed,” the rangers become superhuman. Each ranger is designated a particular color:
Jason Lee Scott – Red Ranger with Tyrannosaurus Dinozord
Kimberly Hart – Pink Ranger with Pterodactyl Dinozord
Zack Taylor – Black Ranger with Mastodon Dinozord
Trini Kwan – Yellow Ranger with Saber-Toothed Tiger Dinozord
Billy Cranston – Blue Ranger with Triceratops Dinozord
All of the Power Rangers’ Zords combine to make a Megazord.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers uses a lot of its fighting footage from the Japananese series Super Sentai.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie was released on June 30, 1995, and grossed $66.4 million.
