Description: Demolition of more than 50% of the wall structure of a Contributing rated, single-family building.

Staff Recommendations: 

FEMA research indicates that the single shotgun at 5130 Laurel was constructed circa 1900-1910. The applicant is requesting to demolish and encapsulate approximately 51% of the exterior walls with a proposal to add a side and rear addition on the non street facing side of the building. While Uptown is not a full control district, the addition does meet the criteria set forth by HDLC Design Guidelines. For the aforementioned, reasons Staff recommends no objection to the demolition of more than 50% of the wall structure
