Solar Desalination

Hello, My name is Gabe, I did my 15% IP on Solar Desalination. This year I wanted to challenge myself and do a complicated project that was new to me. I wanted to do this project because it stood out to me and has a real life application connected to it. Many people around the world suffer from not having clean water, even though they live right next to water but its salt water which is undrinkable. I found out that with Solar desalination machines, you can use sunlight to heat the impurities/salt out of the water and thought it would be cool to try and design a machine myself.
This was my first design which I quickly did in Microsoft word. This was my original plan for how my design would turn out but my low knowledge of the subject slowed me down.
This was my final Sketchup design which was missing many features I wanted to add. My main constraint on this design was time, which is why i missed many important aspects of it. In the end this was the design I 3D printed because i had no more time to add to it.
This was the 3D printed design, which in the end printed very well. I wished I could have added more features to it such as the solar panels but I ran out of time to do so. Overall, my final design is not what i planned it to be but was pretty good for this being my first time learning about Solar Desalination.
