The NEPC shall be responsible for producing the following reports and records:
- Annual Report to the President (which may include the following reports and records, but at a minimum should include:
- Summary of Membership, including Working Groups, Subcommittees, Secretariat and Staffing
- Summary of funding for the Secretariat
- Summary of Policy Statements or Decisions issued by the NEPC
- Summary of National Priorities set by the NEPC, including how the priorities were addressed through the Joint Strategic Plan
- Summary of any conflicts and their resolution
- An overall assessment of NEPC effectiveness and areas for improvement, including specific actions or recommendations for the Office of the President
- Report on National Priorities (every two years following a nationally transparent process to include the National Symposium)
- State of the Environment Report (every two years; in years without a Symposium)
- Official Meeting Minutes after every Full NEPC Meeting (at least 2 per year)
- Single, Joint Strategic Plan that describes how National Priorities have been divided up among National Government Agencies, and which highlights gaps in addressing priorities.
- A record (Meeting Minutes or Policy Statement) of discussion, endorsement, or recommendations for every multi-sector grant being proposed in the Environment Sector, before it progresses to the OPM.
The NEPC shall set National Priorities through an open and transparent process that considers input from the public as well as quantitative and organizational data. The NEPC shall set official National Priorities every two years, following the National Symposium. A Symposium Report and/or Policy Statement will serve as the official communication adopting National Priorities.
