Terms of all Members are dependent on their continued leadership of their Government Agency/Entity.
Member Roles and Responsibilities
Members of the NEPC are responsible for the day-to-day operation of their respective agencies, but within the context of Palau’s larger environmental and sustainable development goals. The NEPC is the conduit by which individual agency actions are coordinated so that they collectively improve Palau.
- Represent National Government agencies and entities, and are the Person in Charge of their respective agency.
- Collectively represent the National Government’s positions on the environment.
- Attend full meetings of the NEPC, including participating in SOPs (e.g. online reporting templates) before and after meetings to collect and share information and to raise and solve cross-sector issues. Online AGENCY form (for individual members)
- If the designated Member cannot attend, the Member must send a designated Proxy with the ability to make decisions on behalf of the Member. Members identify Proxies when confirming membership. The Officers and Secretariat should be informed of changes to the Proxy before meetings.
- Lead or serve on a Working Group or Subcommittee, and report back. Online WORKING GROUP OR SUBCOMMITTEE form (to report on a Working Group or Subcommittee)
- Proactively bring new documents, policies, developments, EAs, EISs, etc. to the Council for review, including introducing grants into the Grant Approval Process.
- Flag issues for discussion, and add to meeting Agenda.
- Take assigned National Priorities back to their home agency and ensure priorities are carried out by the agency’s employees.
- Bring their agency’s perspective to meetings, while also taking a big picture perspective towards joint coordination.
