Justification statement/reflection.
Throughout both placements I have displayed a high level of teaching standard one, this has been reflected in my written reports. I learnt that it is important to develop a relationship with the children based on mutual respect. This is important since mutual respect allows the best possible outcomes in the classroom as the children will be motivated to be in the classroom and therefore will want to learn. In both placements, I adhered the school’s behaviour policies and set the highest expectation of behaviour in the classroom and wider school environment. I felt it was important to do this at the very start of the placements so that the children knew what positive attitudes I expected of them as a teacher. This created a positive impact on my teaching as the children were always focused, eager to share their ideas and ready to learn. This also meant that the children’s behaviour expectations were consistent, from myself and from other staff in and around the school.
In addition, I consistently demonstrated the positive attitudes that are expected of all pupils’, I did this by creating tasks which sparked the children’s interests. All these ideas kept the children on task and enthusiastic about the area they were learning about. In the future, I would continue to create tasks that sparked the children’s interests, but I would encourage children to promote an independent learning style. On occasions, children needed lots of encouragement, I would like to promote a classroom whereby children aspire to learn and have a willingness to learn.
