LINK TO EXODUS 32 GOLDEN CALF STORY
HISTORY OF THE CROSS.
HISTORY OF CALF / COW WORSHIP.
When we use something to represent YHWH or Yeshua, then we tend to focus on that object, and we easily can keep them at a distance. When we realize nothing can represent our creator, then we can pursue a relationship with him and be baptized by his Holy Spirit. And have him living in us.
WIKIPEDIA:
I would rather get it right from the source, EXODUS 20:
Exodus 20:4 You are not to make for yourselves a carved image or any kind of representation of anything in heaven above, on the earth beneath or in the water below the shoreline
(crosses, fish, statues of mother mary or saints, symbols, logos??) When G-d introduced himself to the israelites and gave them the commandments, they created the golden calf as a representation to honor their G-d. And G-d punished them severely for it. How is a cross around my neck and different? Or a mother mary statue in a yard that is prayed to? We shall have no carved representation of G-d. This hurts us because we start to rely on that object and forget that G-d is always around us and his Holy Spirit has the ability to be in us if we pursue it and let it.
Exodus 20:5 you are not to bow down to them or serve them;(kissing your cross on your neck for good luck) for I, Adonai your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sins of the parents, also the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but displaying grace to the thousandth generation of those who love me and obey my mitzvot. (commands)
IF I am saying or doing things a certain way for “good luck” or Karma, then I am a slave or I am serving that routine or item instead of being focused on pleasing G-d. Why would he bless me with great progress on my work if I am choosing to give credit to my lucky sox.
It's quite obvious to me from Wikipidia's version and strait from the Bible, we are not to have any carved images or representations of YHWH. The next command / bible verse, says not to worship it.
How can I say "Catholics are sinning because they have an image of Jesus on the cross and pray to it, or pray to Mother Mary statue in their yard" "But I'm not sinning because I only carry the representation or carving / image of it.
Should we have crosses hanging in our churches?
