Postcard Assignment

The Roman Empire needs you! You have been assigned a role as publicist. You need to tell the world all the great things about the empire. Our public relations are in trouble. The world seems to think that Rome’s glory days are over. But you know better! We have so many great things that we have done and we need to get the word out. As a citizen of Rome, you have been awed by the Roman Empire’s great achievements, you are bursting to send a out postcard to distant friends and relatives and share your experiences.

Quickly, grab a postcard and frantically write about the Colosseum!

Requirements:

  • Postcard note must be 10-15 sentences. Typed
  • Cover: Create an exciting, colorful and attractive visual on the front of your postcard that relates to the legacy/contribution that you have chosen. Remember you are Rome’s public relations, it should be catchy and exciting! It can be hand drawn and/or a design/collage of pictures.
  • Stamp included with a connection to the legacy/topic assigned.
  • Hints: Remember the letter is to someone outside of Rome that creatively discusses and creates a story that includes the Colosseum. Write as though you are living during the time of the Roman Empire. Use dates and names that are from the period. Be creative!! Letter must sound like an authentic letter to someone you know not a textbook.
