Release Date: 10/28/2022
Episode: Season 3 Episode 5
Episode (Overall): Episode 16
Characters:
Robosapien (the Mysterious Voice)
Plot
Having been framed for tripping RoboMe, the MiPs are handcuffed and escorted by Robo-Cop 2. MiPP-E pleads the MiPs' innocence, and Cody complains that he was not in on the deal in the first place, but Robo-Cop 2 dismisses their protests.
The MiPs are escorted to a very dark area and are confused as to where they are. The Mysterious Voice appears in-person on a giant wheeled throne, and Mary questions why the MiPs weren't brought to the Great Council. MiPP-E recalls the events of episode 1, seeming to remember his first encounter with The Mysterious Voice. The Mysterious Voice then introduces himself as Robosapien through the song "My Name is Robosapien."
Through the song, Robosapien explains his backstory. He was the original robot of Robot Park and was highly regarded until his creators made an upgraded version of him: Robosapien V2. Out of jealousy, Robosapien created a clone army and presumably destroyed Robosapien V2 along with any other opposition to his popularity. As punishment, Robosapien's creators created a Robosapien V3 (The Great Council) to assert Robosapien's banishment.
Continuing the song, Robosapien also explains his actions throughout the series. The Robo-Cops, who appeared to be the Great Council's police force, were revealed to be Robosapien's spies all along, enacting his will remotely. Robosapien's new goal was to prevent newer robots from gaining recognition. When the MiPs entered the picture, Robosapien tried many times to destroy them or otherwise stop them in their tracks throughout the series.
Robosapien then proceeds to unleash MegaByte as his weapon to destroy the MiPs, despite Cody's pleas. MegaByte chases the MiPs one at a time, but Bob and Cody find a corner to hide in. Cody points out that Bob's handcuffs simply fell off, which seems to have been caused by a mistake made by Robo-Cop 2.
MiPP-E and Mary express their defeat, then Robosapien instructs MegaByte to "crunch their wires." This gives Bob an idea on how to defeat Megabyte, which he explains to Cody. Cody positions himself near some exposed wires in a corner and entices MegaByte to attack him. MegaByte lunges, but Cody dodges, so MegaByte bites the wires and becomes electrocuted and paralyzed. Bob then jumps on MegaByte's back and opens a panel. Robosapien instructs both Robo-Cops to remove Bob from MegaByte, but Mary and MiPP-E tackle the cops to hold them down, encouraging Bob's plan. Bob installs the hack, causing an alarm to blare. Robosapien screams and MegaByte explodes.
Trivia
Robo-Cop 2 says "I missed the part where that's my problem," which is the infamous quote from the 2002 Spider-Man film.
Robo-Cop 2 says "confusion and delay," which is a common line in the Thomas & Friends series.
MiPP-E recalls the scene in which he-E first encounters Robosapien in episode 1.
There are a few Marvel Cinematic Universe references. MiPP-E mistakes Robosapien for Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, and Bob mistakes him for Moon Knight.
"My Name is Robosapien" has many elements to it.
Real guitar and vocals were used, but drum and cymbal effects were created in the video game "My Singing Monsters."
The animated segments of the song were created in "Flipnote Studio 3D" for the Nintendo 3DS.
Robosapien says he was built in 2004, which is the actual year the first Robosapien robot was sold in stores.
"The counter-hack" that Bob refers to in his plan to defeat MegaByte is the same one Cody introduced in "The MiPs Among Us."
Bob references the 1975 film Jaws, as his plan to defeat MegaByte is similar to how the characters in the movie defeat the great white shark.
Cody says "I ain't afraid of no dog," which is similar to the famous line in the "Ghostbusters" song.
This episode concludes "the Mysterious Voice" story arc that has been ongoing throughout the entire series, paving the way for a different format for the series going forward.
