Hi there!
MindBoost is a space where teens can come together to share real, honest recommendations for self-help that supports mental health. All posts on the site, are insights shared from teens who’ve been there and get it.
Our goal is to make it easier to find things that actually help and to know what doesn't help. It’s all about genuine support, real stories, and self-help that makes a difference.

Please note the information shared on this site is based on insights and experiences by individuals with lived experiences of using self-help. This content is not intended to replace professional advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you require further or more urgent support please click here
These insights were collected from a thesis study between January 2026 to August 2026.
Hi, I’m Beth Hart, a Trainee Psychologist from Lancaster University. As part of my thesis, I’m exploring what kinds of self-help materials best support teens with their mental health-based on the views of the teens themselves.
Through survey feedback and discussions with teens, I’ll be gathering suggestions and looking for common themes to better understand what really helps and what doesn't. All responses are completely anonymous and confidential- no post or survey response will be able to be linked back to you. A summary of the study results will be shared here and can be emailed to people who request them, and I hope to publish them in a research paper too!
Your input could make a real difference—not just to this research, but to other young people looking for support. It’s a chance to turn your experience into something that helps others feel less alone.
The survey has now received enough responses but if you would like to take part in the chat see below ⬇️
Have you used self-help to support your mental health or wellbeing in the past year? I'd love to hear about your experiences- good or bad. Follow the link below to fill out the form and I (Beth) will contact you about arranging a chat with me over Microsoft Teams. All those who participate in the chat will be offered a £15 voucher as a thank you.
If you are under 16 years old, you will your parent/carer will need to give you permission to complete the survey or/and have a chat to the researcher. The survey will ask for a parent or carers contact number for me to call to check this.
The study would really benefit from hearing from people aged 13–15 and from young men, because we don’t have many voices from these groups yet. Your perspective would genuinely help make the findings more balanced and useful for other young people.
