Student Spotlights

To start off this month, we will jump right into our amazing Student Spotlights and their achievements. Anya Ruzicka, an IB senior, created the Committee for Prospective Midlo IB Students this school year, on top of Girl Scouts, Spanish Club, theater, and co-directing and acting for the school plays. Our junior Spotlight, Harper Gordon, is in the National Honors Spanish Society, show choir, volunteers to help with flu clinics, and always brings a kind and positive attitude to the classroom. Pre-IB sophomore, Ellie Pippenger is a Girl Scout, committed to the German Exchange Program, participates in stage crew, and plays the cello in MHS’s orchestra. Last, but certainly not least, pre-IB freshman, Augusta McNulty, does ballet, plays the cello, and plays water polo. If you come across any of these wonderful students, give them a round of applause for their hard work at school and in the community!

International Festival

It’s official: International Festival will be virtual this year! We appreciate everyone’s patience while IBSC explored our options during this pandemic. This year, we will be pre recording our performances, and putting them together in a video we can watch together in a Google Meet. We will also be adding several other live aspects to keep it exciting!

While International Festival will definitely look different this year, we hope you will still attend on April 22nd! If you are still interested in performing or participating in the fashion show, you can still sign up! Use: bit.ly/IFFashion21 and/or bit.ly/IFPerformances21

Chicken Fiesta Spirit Night

On Wednesday, February 24th, IB held a spirit night at Chicken Fiesta. Thank you to everyone who came out to support, and be on the lookout for future events!

Grade Level Events

Early this month, the freshmen grade level representatives organized a virtual game night for their classmates! Together they played some fun icebreakers to get to know each other better, and then played Among Us. Thank you to everyone who participated!

The seniors also got together virtually for a ghost tour of New Orleans! In this video, seniors heard spooky stories from a variety of time periods throughout the city. Thank you to everyone who attended, and the IBPC for providing the entertainment!

On March 6th at 11:00am, the juniors will be hosting a virtual art class! It will be led by IB senior, Leo Crayton. Come have fun with your classmates while earning a creativity hour for CAS!

Connor's Heroes Drive

IBSC is hosting our next philanthropic activity this week! We will be encouraging you to donate to Connor's Heroes which is an Richmond based organization that benefits families throughout Central Virginia who are affected by childhood cancer. Specifically, we will be asking for donations through two Amazon Wishlists that provide items for Connor's Heroes Fun Packs. These are given to families to help lift spirits, and include items such as movie snacks or board games. Monday through Friday, IB sophomore, Noelia McCaffery will be hosting an Instagram takeover @midloib. She will be providing information about the organization, and raising awareness for childhood cancer. We hope you will join us in supporting this amazing non-profit organization!
