Description-
This artifact is a research paper on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It contains the various aspects of this disorder and what it entails. It was produced during the summer semester of 2020 for my SPED 216 class. I wrote this paper to explain what ADHD is and what can be done to help any learner that has been diagnosed with this.
Connection-
The importance of this artifact is to show awareness and the increasing number of people that have been diagnosed with this. This artifact shows evidence of understanding of the standard because all learners are unique and have their own unique set of characteristics. This means that that lesson plans must be differentiated to ensure a quality learning experience for all students. This research artifact has made me more aware of ADHD in the classroom and allows me to modify and accommodate the lesson plans to fit needs that every student requires. For me to effectively plan and differentiate my lessons I must first, "understand cultural, linguistic, cognitive, physical, and social and emotional differences, and consider the needs of each student when planning instruction". Applying these aspects of this standard with progress my skills in a forward direction.
Learned-
I have learned that students will need specific attention and feedback to succeed in my class. I have also learned that the hyperactivity can be directed in a positive and productive manner when given the proper guidance. This will help to prepare my lessons for the individual student. The number of people diagnosed with ADHD is growing so I will have to be ready with my techniques and skills so that all of my students succeed. I learned that there are so many tools and strategies to assist students with ADHD to get a quality learning experience. This is so significant to me because I too had to use these strategies when I was in school.
