Description-
This artifact is a paper on my discipline of Physical Education. This contains how specific items such as workbooks or game instructions can be read in the point of view of Physical Education. It was created in 2020 and it was produced so that I can further understand the importance of my specific discipline.
Connection-
The importance of this artifact is to further explain how my specific discipline of Physical Education is read as well as perceived. This artifact shows evidence of understanding the standard through the interviews that were conducted with various Physical Education teachers. They give a great in-depth view of how important it is to have a PE mindset when reading as well as learning. This only pushes me closer to achieving my goal aligning my mindset and the content knowledge to be successful in this discipline. This written artifact aligns perfectly with the knowledge indicator because it allows me to "understand the relationship of knowledge within the disciplines to other content areas and to life applications". Disciplinary literacy is a deep explanation of how fantastic the world of PE can be when outside of the classroom or gym.
Learned-
I learned how different texts and conversation can be interpreted in the field of Physical Education. This specific discipline has its own way of reading and understanding but at the same time it connects with so many other disciplines. This paper has increased my understanding of my field which will in-turn make me a more well rounded teacher. I have learned how to elaborate Physical Education can be especially in terms of the the different types of reading that takes place. This is significant to me because I will apply this to every experience I go through in the field of Physical Education.
Lesson-
This artifact is a written paper on classroom management. It contains some good characteristics of what good classroom management are. This artifact was produced in December of 2020. It was produced to display what we as students viewed as good classroom management.
Connection-
The importance of this artifact was to show that we have an idea of what successful classroom management will look like. It shows evidence of understanding of the standard by stating different classroom management skills are and what they look like in action. Each grade level is different which means we must understand that classroom management will look different at each level. This artifact shows that I am developing a deep understanding of how to manage my classroom so that the students get the most out of their experience. By utilizing quality classroom management techniques, it will help me to better "understand theories and philosophies of learning and human development as they relate to the range of students in the classroom". Quality classroom management will enhance all student learning.
Learned-
I have learned how unique classroom management is for each individual class. I have found out that the methods that were used in my first class will change significantly for my second class. This is important for my development because all students are unique and different which means I must use all types of management skills. Using the same style if every class is not the way to ensure best practice in the classroom. I have learned how making little modifications to my classroom management plan can have a great impact in the long run. This is a basis of my foundation to becoming an outstanding teacher.
