1. Expectations that the student and parent/guardian can have of Bridges Program staff:
● Bridges Program staff will work with the student with respect and non-judgmentally, and will communicate positive hopes for student outcomes/results.
● Bridges Program staff will provide emotional/clinical supports, academic coordination, family communication and support, and coordination with other professionals in the school organizations in the community.
● The Bridges Program will be open every day for the full school day as a resource to students who need it.
● The Bridges Program will communicate with parents/guardians and share available resources to help them.
2. The Bridges Program’s expectations of the student:
● The student will commit to his/her/their individual transition plan.
● The student will do his/her/their best to come to school on time every day, and will demonstrate progress over time regarding attendance.
● The student will work to follow through on his/her/their academic plan and complete assignments.
● The student will communicate with staff when she/he/they does/do not feel able to go to class and/or to complete academic work, sharing reasons why.
● The student will actively practice the coping skills she/he/they has/have been learning.
● If a student decides not to do assignments, that remains their decision. The Bridges Program staff can help facilitate necessary supports/assistance for the student to complete work but cannot force a student to do it.
3. The Bridges Program’s expectations of the parent/guardian:
● The parent/guardian will work to make sure that the student comes to school on time every day.
● It is important that parents/guardians know that their input, participation, and follow-through are crucial in their child’s successful completion of their program.
● If the student needs to be absent or late, the parent/guardian will communicate directly with the Bridges Program to share what is happening.
● The parent/guardian will communicate with the Bridges Program, including taking the program staff’s calls and calling back as needed.
● The parent/guardian will agree to make sure that important information can be shared between the Bridges Program and important community providers (the student’s doctor, therapist, etc.).
